Barts Square is a significant mixed use redevelopment in a historic and characterful area of West Smithfield. Phase One construction is now complete.

The scheme comprises 236 high quality apartments across 9 buildings, three commercial offices of 214,000 sq ft, 24,000 sq ft and 10,000 sq ft, as well as 21,000 sq ft of complementary A1-A4 retail / restaurant use.

One Bartholomew, the new Grade A office building of 214,000 sq ft which was completed in December 2018 and is partially let, is prominently positioned a short walk away from Farringdon East Crossrail Station, set to become Britain’s best connected interchange.

The design of the new buildings pick up on Smithfield’s traditional warehouses and classic stone-and-brick façades. A revived Church garden will provide a tranquil green setting, while other areas will be enlivened by the new offices, cafés and restaurants.

The first phase of 144 apartments, 24,000 sq ft of offices and 9,500 sq ft of retail was completed in Autumn 2018 and the second phase of residential and retail will follow in 2019/2020.

Lino, a new flagship restaurant run by Wright and Bell, opened at 92 Bartholomew Close in November 2018. Award winning vegan café Stem + Glory opened in January 2019 and Half Cup will soon join the line up, serving their eclectic and colourful brunch menu.

Barts Square is the winner of the 2019 Housing Design Awards for best Completed Project and was shortlisted for the 2019 New London Housing Awards and the 2019 Resi Awards - Development of the Year.
