Helical’s ambitious new development above Paddington Station has achieved an Outstanding score of 97.4% at the BREEAM Design Stage, placing it firmly within the top 0.1% of new construction projects worldwide. This remarkable performance ranks the Paddington scheme as the second-highest scoring office new construction project ever recorded in the UK, and seventh globally, surpassed in the UK only by the renowned Bloomberg offices at Cannon Street.
Securing all available innovation and transport credits, the project demonstrates the extent to which the team at Paddington is challenging convention and embracing forward-thinking sustainability solutions. The achievement reflects a deeply collaborative effort across the various teams supporting the project, whose shared ambition has driven the project to push the boundaries of sustainable development.

In line with Helical’s wider sustainability commitments, the development has been designed to deliver exceptional operational performance for its future occupiers. In addition to the Outstanding BREEAM result, the project is also targeting , WELL Platinum, NABERS 5.5* and an EPC rating of A, further underscoring its focus on long-term energy efficiency and carbon reduction.
With enabling works in full flow under Keltbray, and Mace scheduled to take over as Principal Contractor in early Q2, the project is moving confidently into the next stage of delivery. When completed in 2028, the scheme will provide 235,000 sq ft of premium, canal-side office space directly above one of London’s most significant transport hubs.
This landmark achievement sets a new benchmark for sustainability-led development and reinforces Helical’s commitment to creating future-ready, high-performance workplaces in the heart of London.
