AshbyCapital and Helical plc, one of London’s leading property developers, have agreed a new 15 year lease at One Bartholomew, EC1, with the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
A top global business school, Chicago Booth will take 43,000 sq ft of space across the ground, first and second floors as it looks to create a new campus facility for its European campus, home to a variety of programming including the EMEA cohort of its Executive MBA Programme. The University joins Trade Desk Inc., the global technology company, which has already taken the top four floors, comprising 74,210 sq ft.
One Bartholomew has been developed by Helical on behalf of owners, AshbyCapital, and delivers 221,000 sq ft of new Grade A office space across 12 floors. Designed by Sheppard Robson, the offices benefit from floor-to-ceiling glazing which allows for brilliant views of St. Paul’s Cathedral. With 338 bicycle racks, 17 showers, 338 lockers, a WiredScore Platinum rating and Amazon lockers, Helical and AshbyCapital have ensured the requirements of modern tenants are fully met.
Barts Square is a three-acre, mixed use development located between St Paul’s and Smithfield. Comprising 236 high quality apartments, circa 250,000 sq ft of contemporary office space over three buildings and 10 retail and restaurant units, Barts Square is the creation of a genuine new urban quarter in this charming location. It is also a short walk from the new Farringdon East Elizabeth Line (Crossrail) station, due to open in December. Independent restaurant operators Wright and Bell, operating as Lino, recently opened to excellent critical reviews and has already established itself as a popular addition to the estate. Award winning vegan restaurant, Stem + Glory, also recently launched and Halfcup, which serves all day brunch, will be opening soon.
Chief Executive at Helical
The letting to Chicago Booth is a fantastic endorsement for One Bartholomew and will add to the growing vibrancy of the estate. Barts Square’s central location and excellent connectivity makes it a highly attractive place for occupiers. The enduring international appeal of the City of London is illustrated by continued interest from high calibre tenants who demand the best-located and highest-quality office developments.
Richard Johnson, Associate Dean, Executive MBA Programme – Europe and Asia, commented: “Following an extensive search process across central London, we are delighted to have selected One Bartholomew Square for our next London campus. The new facility will enable us to expand our current operations and offer our students, faculty and alumni world-class teaching facilities in a vibrant central London location. One Bartholomew Square will be the next chapter in the development of our international footprint following the opening of our bespoke facility at Mount Davis in Hong Kong last year.”
